Taylor Students Lend a Hand in Tornado Cleanup
When Chris Sellers, a Taylor School Corporation bus driver of 29 years, found out his property suffered irreparable damage from the recent tornado, assistant principal Brian Moon knew what to do.
“Once we heard of the damage, we made some phone calls and made an announcement at school. We told them we had 100 spots for kids to sign up and volunteer, and we loaded up the busses and came here,” said Moon on Thursday afternoon, surrounded by students helping in the cleanup.
Seventy-five students from ninth to 12 grade showed up with work gloves, smiles and plans to give back.
“Yeah they get to miss class, but they’re out here picking up trash,” said Moon. “That says a lot about their integrity and their character.”
