Sleigh on Sycamore is Back—This Time with a Tropical Twist!
The holiday season has hit Kokomo full throttle, and if you're not feeling festive yet, it’s time to get off your couch and into one of the city's hottest spots: The Coterie. This downtown bar—already known for its bold decor, killer entertainment lineup, and a menu that deserves its own fan club—has gone full-on holiday mode for its annual Sleigh on Sycamore, which runs through Dec. 31. But this isn’t your run-of-the-mill winter wonderland. The Coterie and the brilliant team at Bohemian Events & Entertainment have decided to give us a tropical Christmas twist.
Let’s rewind for a second. If you swung by The Coterie this summer, you know they fully transformed into The Forbidden Island, a tiki bar so impressive you could practically feel the sand between your toes. The vibe was so well-loved it stuck around—because why mess with perfection? But now, The Forbidden Island has been Santa-fied. Think: Hawaiian shirts meet ugly Christmas sweaters, rum-soaked eggnog in hand. It’s officially a Tropical Christmas Wonderland.
So, what’s new for this year’s Sleigh on Sycamore?
We chatted with Kyle Gibson, owner of The Coterie, who spilled the tea.
“This year, we’re sticking with the tiki theme but turning up the holiday cheer,” Gibson said. “This year, we’ve been fortunate enough to work with Bumbu Rum, Jack Daniels, and Fernet Branca. All month long we’ll be bringing you awesome cocktails, exclusive glassware, and awesome giveaways and prizes.”
And it doesn’t stop there. If the festive drinks and atmosphere weren’t enough to lure you in, the entertainment lineup will. Just to list a few:
DJ Action Jackson, one of the Midwest’s most beloved DJs, is headlining EVERY Friday and Saturday night in December. (Yes, you read that right—every. single. weekend.)
Christmas Night Karaoke, because belting out All I Want for Christmas Is You after a few holiday Mai Tais is basically therapy.
A festive drag show guaranteed to sleigh (pun intended).
A Christmas Trivia Night in collaboration with The Kokomo Post (that’s us!) where we’ll be giving away more than $1,700 worth of prizes!
“What I’m most excited about is watching everyone’s faces light up when they see the amazing work that Kristin and the Bohemian Events team have created. I’m excited to see everyone sharing drinks, fun and entertainment,” said Gibson.

“This year’s Sleigh on Sycamore wraps up the story of The Forbidden Island,” Boor said. “The curse has been lifted, and Santa has arrived! We brought all the Christmas magic to celebrate island style. It’s a tropical Christmas wonderland!”
