Rocking Kokomo by Candlelight: A Night Out with the Kokomo Symphony Orchestra
Get ready for an unforgettable night of rock-inspired symphony as the Kokomo Symphony Orchestra presents “Rocking Kokomo by Candlelight” on Friday, Nov. 22 at The Hobson.
With doors opening at 6 p.m., attendees can kick off the evening with charcuterie boards, a cash bar and the cozy ambiance of candlelight lining the aisles and stage.
This unique performance, featuring KSO’s talented musicians José Valencia, Sean Carey, Suzanne Um, Sarah Binford and Christian Starnes, blends classic rock with orchestral depth, delivering a dynamic, one-of-a-kind experience.
Under the direction of Conductor José Valencia, the quintet will perform iconic rock hits such as “The Show Must Go On” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, “Renegade” by Styx, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana, “Pinball Wizard” by Elton John and more. This genre-blending setlist promises both memorable melodies and unexpected musical discoveries, enhanced by the intimate candlelit setting.
Rollins said she believes the show will be appealing to those who may not typically attend a classical concert, explaining,
“Rock would be a good way to attract people who don’t usually attend Kokomo Symphony Orchestra performances. Being in a live setting, it’s a totally different experience,” she said.
During intermission, the evening will feature a live auction with packages that include tickets to an Indianapolis Colts game, the chance to be a guest conductor for the KSO’s March 1 performance (with included tickets), a charcuterie board from Bites & Boards, a wine package from Urban Vines and more.
Tickets are on sale now for $30.
