Whiskey, Wheels & Watches Brings Family Fun to Downtown
It will be a day of luxury and leisure Saturday, as Palmer’s Jewelry is set to present Whiskey, Wheels & Watches, a Father’s Day event featuring a car show, adult beverages, food trucks, and a showcase of exquisite timepieces. Attendees can explore food, drink — and so many watches — from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 17 in downtown Kokomo.
After noticing a lack of downtown events catered specifically toward men, the store manager of Palmer’s Jewelry, Jessica Jackson and the team at Palmer’s came up with an idea that not only highlights the unique watches and watches services the store offers, but also shows some appreciation for the dads on Father’s Day weekend.
“We do a lot of fun stuff with watches here in the store that nobody else does, even in the United States. A lot of people don’t know this but we do watch repairs from all over the United States,” said Jackson. “We have a master watchmaker, we make custom watches and can do anything from changing out your Timex battery to fine Swiss watch overhauls.”
But the event is geared toward watch-lovers and also the general public. The downtown square will be packed with a Jeep and car cruise-in car show, live music, a beer garden from Sun King Kokomo, cocktails from Travelers Point Distillery, shopping, food from The Middle of Nowhere food truck, a cornhole tournament and more.
At noon, guests can witness the results of dropping a G-Shock watch from the top of the six-story First Farmer’s Bank & Trust building.
“G-Shock watches are meant to take a beating, but we wanted to push the boundaries,” said Jackson. “Technically dropping it off a building is more than their recommended beatings, but we wanted to see what it could do.”
Representatives from watch brands including Visitor Watch Co., Haven Watch Co., Fleddermann von Rieste, Kokomo Watch Company as well as Cincinnati Watch Co. will be in attendance to answer your questions and help you make a purchase just in time for Father’s Day.
This whole event will take place from Beckley Office Supply to Pizza Co., the parking garage to Community First Bank of Indiana and the street in front of the Sound of Music store.
“For us, you have to realize Palmer’s has been here for 79 years, so being a member of the community has always been important to us,” said Jackson. “There is stuff to do downtown. That’s probably the most significant thing we want to accomplish. We want people to know that downtown exists and how rich is it with culture.”
