Hey, Kokomo! While the last handful of months have filled your time with holiday events, activities, surviving 2020, and ringing in a new year, we’ve officially reached the point where you’re thinking “now what?!”

You could fill that newfound time accomplishing your 2021 resolutions OR you could fill your time by binge-watching Netflix. After all, you deserve some Netflix and chill after making it through a dumpster fire of a year.

Here’s our list of the top 10 movies, shows, and series you should be binging right now!

“History of Swear Words”

The Treasure Hunter himself, Nicholas Cage, hosts this profane series unfolding the history of swear words. Yes, it’s as interesting as it sounds. While we don’t recommend sitting down with a bowl of popcorn and watching this one with the family, we do recommend watching it on your own or with your significant other. This series might just help you understand the potty mouth in your life a little bit better. (Maybe it’s YOU. Maybe you’re the potty mouth.) Either way, learning about the origins, pop culture usage and science behind some of your favorite four-letter words is fascinating.

“Death to 2020”

Here’s another Netflix must-watch hosted by a familiar face, Samuel L. Jackson. Although, we’re kind of shocked he wasn’t the host of the first show on our list considering HIS history with swear words. This comedy special will make you laugh to keep from crying while breaking down the dreadful year that was 2020 with reality, fiction and a good dose of dark humor.

“Magic for Humans”

I’m going to be honest, this Netflix series took me by surprise. We saw it in the New Releases category and turned it on as background noise while cooking dinner. Little did I know the process of making dinner would soon be interrupted by the comedy, entertainment and magic of Justin Willman. His “man-on-the-street” style magic tricks had the whole family shouting “HOW?!” at the TV in a matter of minutes. I can’t promise you won’t accidentally watch this entire series in one sitting, but I can promise you’ll be impressed!

“Dream Home Makeover”

If you’re a parent with a YouTube-obsessed kid, you’ve probably asked yourself, “Why do these kids like watching other people play with games and toys so much? Just go play yourself!” Then you realize you enjoy spending your time watching other people decorate their homes on TV instead of just doing it yourself. Suddenly, it all makes sense. Well, here’s another one of those shows. Follow along the McGee family as they turn people’s home dreams into reality!

“Ink Master”

Another reality competition show BUT *add a little bit of spice* as the kids say on TikTok. Whether people are singing, dancing, painting or tattooing, any and all competition shows suck us right in! But something about watching artists compete to tattoo permanent art -- good and bad -- on people’s skin just hits different.

“CoComelon”

This one is just as much for the parents as it is for the kids! CoComelon has quickly become a favorite when it comes to capturing the attention of your littles! The best part about it? It gives the parents some time to get things done around the house AND it’s guilt-free. CoComelon is centered around following baby JJ as he goes on everyday adventures with nursery rhymes, play and learning! And we have to admit, the songs are pretty catchy!

“Surviving Death”

This Netflix series is for curious minds. Through scientific research and real-life near-death accounts, the series “Surviving Death” answers the questions about life after death and what dying really means.

“The Great British Baking Show”

You may have read through the other seven recommendations on this list and thought “this isn’t for me.” That’s fine. We all have different tastes and interests, after all. BUT one thing everyone can almost always agree on is food and their love for it! When the people in my household have debated for a half-hour about what to watch on Netflix, our default is some kind of cooking show. “The Great British Bake Off” is a baking competition show where amateur bakers try to impress judges with their baking skills!

“The Floor Is Lava”

Listen, I’m not even going to apologize for all of the competition shows I’ve added to this list. They’re addicting, what can I say? This reality competition show is centered around everyone’s favorite childhood game: The Floor Is Lava! Do you remember the days of throwing all the couch cushions on the floor and your mom yelling about how you were going to ruin her nice pillows? Well, this show takes it up a notch, without the fear of getting grounded!

“Headspace Guide to Meditation”

After the year we all survived, this one might be super helpful! This series teaches you how mindful meditation can change your life. It teaches you meditation tips for everyday issues in life like stress, anxiety, sleep, focus, etc. Do yourself a favor: Add this to your must-watch list, and take a breather. You deserve it

So there it is! My list of must-watch Netflix shows, movies and series you should be binging right now! What do you think? Did I convince you to watch any of these? Give us some feedback and let us know. Have any recommendations? Leave those below as well. We’d love to hear from you!
