The Kokomo Post Picks of the Week - July 2nd
Hey, Kokomo! Welcome to our Kokomo Post Picks of the week where our staffers and interns pick the things they’re enjoying from all around our favorite city! In no particular order:
Fresh Cut Flowers from June Daisy Blooms
June Daisy Blooms is growing gorgeous flowers on their farm right here in Howard county. They have beautiful bouquet options and we’re keeping our eyes on them because later this summer they’re opening a U-Pick area! What a fun date night, friend night, or family activity this summer. I dare you to find me one person whose day isn’t brightened by flowers. Go ahead.
They’ll be at the Kokomo Farmer’s Market this Saturday. Treat yourself to some farm-fresh flowers!
Zucchini Corn Fritters from Lucky Lemon
Vegan or not, please do yourself a favor and try these zucchini corn fritters with jalapeño cream sauce while Lucky Lemon is featuring them on their summer menu. They’re crispy fritters loaded with fresh corn and zucchini on a bed of mixed greens and drizzled with a tangy jalapeño sauce.
This dish was my favorite lunch this week: the perfect balance of richness from the veggie fritters and lightness from the mixed greens. Oh so good.
Fair Food at Haynes Apperson Festival
This weekend is the gold mine of summer fun. At the heart of summer is our beloved fair food. Give us a corn dog, a lemon shake-up, and some ribbon fries and we’re good to go.
What’s your fair food of choice?
Kokomo’s Haynes Apperson Festival is back in a big way this year. It’s going on now through Saturday with games, rides, food, vendors and music. We’re thrilled to welcome this incredible summer tradition back to Foster Park!
What do you think Kokomo? We want to hear your picks of the week!
