Koko-Christmas Bucket List

koko-christmas bucket list-2.png

Hey Kokomo! We’ve officially entered the most wonderful time of the year! What is there not to love about the holiday season (except for maybe the colder weather and having to scrape your car windows every morning now)?! We’re a few days into December and you’ve probably started your advent calendar counting down the days until Christmas and sure, Christmas is exciting but I think all of the events leading up to Christmas are just as exciting. That’s why we’ve created this Koko-Christmas bucket list so you don’t have to spend any of your precious time searching for activities and you can just start checking them off of this list right here!

The Frozen Sandlot

Number one on our list is The Frozen Sandlot where they transform the awesome Jackrabbits stadium into an ice skating rink! This is one of my family's favorite winter activities in Kokomo. In years past we would head to Indy for the day to go ice skating but now we have joy it right here in our own community and what’s cooler than ice skating on a baseball field in your hometown? You can find more details and order tickets here.

We Care Park

There is nothing that says Christmas in Kokomo like the beautiful display of lights at We Care Park. It’s been a tradition in my family my whole life to watch the lighting of the park and to visit it MANY times throughout the season. As you all know at this point, this is sadly the last year for We Care Park as we know it so you’ll want to walk through to get your final photos. But, if you rather stay warm you can always drive through the park, say hello to Santa on your way through the tunnel and grab a candy cane! How you choose to celebrate We Care Park this year be sure to make a generous donation if you can and thank the volunteers. They’ve put tons of work into making magic happen in Kokomo for the past 27 years. Let’s send them off with ALL of the praises! Click here to the google map of We Care Park!

Seiberling Mansion

The Seiberling Mansion is a part of Kokomo history and while it’s always beautiful throughout the year and all of the season it’s EXTRA beautiful during the holiday season. The Mansion gets lit up every year with soft white lights and the inside is even more extravagant. You can take a tour through the mansion and see all of the amazing displays and themes happening throughout the mansion and in their TWENTY different rooms! Find more information and purchase tickets here!

Social Distance With Santa

Listen, We know it’s been a rough year and we’re celebrating holidays and events in ways that we never have before and sometimes that’s a BIG bummer. But, it looks like we will still be able to see the big man in the red suit this year after all! Keeping safety and creativity in mind, our community is bringing us “Social Distancing with Santa Claus”. Who knows, maybe this could be the new and better norm? You’d probably agree if you’re a parent and have had to experience a child freak out when it’s time to sit on Santa’s lap. I’m down to give this a shot! Bring your family out for First Friday in Kokomo on December 4th to see Santa AND to see downtown Kokomo transform into a winter wonderland! Click here for more details.

Carriage Ride

Picture this, the snow is gently falling, you’re cuddled up with your loved one in a horse drawn carriage with a blanket and a warm mug of cocoa being toted around town looking at all of the beautiful Christmas lights. Pretty magically, huh? You can do just that right here in Kokomo! Here’s our recommendation. Click here to book your carriage ride!

Drive Through Highland Park

Last but certainly not least on our Koko-Christmas bucket list is Highland party! Highland park is beautiful in all season but especially during the holidays when they put up the Christmas display and you can see the the lights reflecting off of the frozen ponds! I personally recommend bundling up the family in their Christmas pajamas and driving around town to see all of the light displays and ending the night at Highland Park of course being sure to grab a candy cane from Santa at the end of it all! Find Highland Park on google maps by clicking here

There are so many fun activities to participate in during the holiday season right here in Kokomo! These are just a few of our favorites. Did we miss any of your favorites? Let us know if we did so we can add them to our list and let us know which of these activities you plan to check out of your Koko-Christmas bucket list this year!
