Howard County Football Week 7 Predictions

Week 6 was a good one for several county schools. Taylor defeated Sheridan for the first time since 1974, while Eastern and Kokomo both shut out their opponents during homecoming games.

Week 7 looks promising as well, with multiple schools favored to win big. Let's dive into this week's matchups and predict who will come out victorious under the Friday night lights.

Kokomo 2-3 vs Richmond 0-6

Kokomo’s homecoming win was a big one. Inclement weather persisted throughout the game, but it didn’t interfere with the Wildkats' quest to beat a conference opponent. The good news for Kokomo is that they're favored to have a blowout win against Richmond this week. The Red Devils have struggled this season, going winless in 2024 and allowing 53 points per game. The Wildkats will likely enjoy a long bus ride home Friday night as they pick up another North Central Conference win.

Winner: Kokomo

Tippecanoe Valley 4-2 vs Western 0-6

This might sound like a broken record, but Western is really struggling this year. Not only do the Panthers have trouble scoring multiple touchdowns in a game, but they also suffered their third shutout of the season last week. Perhaps the homecoming festivities will give Western a boost when they play Tippecanoe Valley. The Vikings, like the Panthers, were also shut out last week. As both teams look to break out of their slump, it’s hard to believe this will be the week Western’s offense finds the success it’s been striving for all season.

Winner: Tippecanoe Valley

Wabash 1-5 vs Northwestern 5-1

Northwestern faced one of the best teams in Class 3A last week, with Maconaquah allowing only two points in a showdown between two top teams in the Three Rivers Conference. This week’s game against Wabash should give Northwestern a chance to get back to its winning ways. The Apaches' defense has struggled to contain opposing offenses, allowing 43 points per game. That stat, combined with Northwestern’s high-octane offense, is just one of the reasons why the Tigers are expected to secure a win Friday night.

Winner: Northwestern

Tri-Central 1-5 vs Eastern 2-4

A shutout win on homecoming night is a great way to boost team morale. Eastern wasn’t fazed by the wind and rain that swept through Indiana during its win over Clinton Central. The Comets will need that same energy to beat Tri-Central on Friday night. Matching last week’s intensity could lead to Eastern holding another opponent to just 86 total yards of offense, as they did against Clinton Central. With their defensive strength and offensive weapons, Eastern is poised to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Winner: Eastern

Taylor 3-3 vs Clinton Prairie 3-3

A week ago, Taylor pulled off a massive upset over Sheridan, marking the Titans' first win against the Blackhawks since 1974. Can Taylor pull off another unthinkable upset? That’s the question as the Titans travel to face Clinton Prairie on Friday night. The teams have met 10 times since 1967, with Clinton Prairie winning every game. There's a good chance they’ll take the 11th meeting between the two schools as well.

Winner: Clinton Prairie

Last week: 3-2

All time: 8-2 (started predicting games in week 5)
