How to Survive the Last Month of Winter

Living in the Hoosier state means “fake spring” makes an early appearance in February before suddenly dropping to 30 degrees and cloudy. The good news is spring is 35 days away and the dark (and cold) days are almost over! Here’s some of our suggestions on how to survive the next 35 days in Indiana.


Prepare for Multiple Seasons, Sometimes All in the Same Day

Layers, layers, layers! Fake spring is Mother Nature’s way of keeping us on our toes.

Don’t put away the ice scraper just yet! The average LAST frost of the winter in Kokomo isn’t until April 27!


Take Advantage of Warmer Days

If you walk outside and think “Hmm. It’s unusually warm today.” Get on your old tennis shoes or mud boots, put on an old jacket and get some sunshine on your face!

Whether you take a walk in the neighborhood or enjoy Kokomo’s trails, getting outside when you can is essential to surviving the last month of winter.

Pro tip: There are multiple 5K runs/walks coming up! This is a perfect way to support a good cause and spend time outside with friends!


Indoor Kid and Family-Friendly Activities

If you’re reading this and the weather is gross outside, no worries! There are so many options for indoor fun to burn off some steam and get out of the house!
