Rev Up Your Taste Buds: Food Truck Festival Returns to Harley Davidson of Kokomo
From 5 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3, the public is invited to indulge in food and treats from more than 10 food trucks from all over Indiana at the second annual Friends of Fred Food Truck Festival at Harley Davidson of Kokomo.
Admission is free to this family-friendly party, which includes live music from Brian Benson Blues Band, a family fun zone with yard games and a bouncy house as well as adult beverages for purchase from Friends of Fred Traveling Tavern. The event is not simply for Harley owners, though. It is open to the community — and it’s pet friendly.
“You hear the word ‘food truck’ and you know the food is gonna be good. Harley as a community is really community-friendly and loves to give back,” said Taylor White, office manager and planner of the event.
Friends of Fred is a group of local food truck owners who joined together to create Central Indiana’s largest food truck directory.
What started out as a handful of trucks visiting Indianapolis neighborhoods during the pandemic so residents could still support local restaurants and enjoy “take out” from the comfort of their homes, is now a group of food trucks booking events throughout Central Indiana and surrounding states.
“We started out as a group of seven or eight trucks just helping each other survive, and now we have over 100,” said Richwine.
There will be 10 trucks attending this event with a variety of offerings from sweets to barbecue, tacos and Sloppy Jo sandwiches inspired by various cuisines across the world.
Kokomo’s own HomeTeam Ice Cream and The Middle of Nowhere 19/26 food trucks will also be in attendance with ice cream and Chicago-style hot dogs and more.
