Exciting Upgrades Coming to Jackson Morrow Park
Over the past few years, Kokomo has seen some major upgrades, and one of the most notable improvements has been in our local parks and trails. If you’ve been out and about, you may have noticed several parks across the city have undergone a much-needed facelift. These upgrades have transformed parks that had long been in need of attention, and now it seems the city is also focusing on enhancing parks that see a lot of traffic.
Jackson Morrow Park is in the middle of several upgrades, including the creation of additional restroom facilities, as well as an upcoming splash pad.
Torrey Roe, superintendent of the Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department, said the upgrades to the park represent continued development for the city, and increased quality of life for all.
“It’s continue growth,” said Roe. “It’s ways that we can attract people to Kokomo. It’s ways that we can keep our residents here. As a lifelong resident here, I love to be able to give back, lsiten to waht the community wants and provide that.”
So, what’s happening now? According to Roe, the current construction at Jackson Morrow Park is for a public restroom with an accompanying drinking fountain and sand rinsing area near the volleyball court on Webster Street, all of which looks to be complete by the close of 2024.
While the restroom is certainly great news, we know many are eagerly awaiting more details about the splash pad, which should begin construction in 2024 with an estimated completion date of 2025, said Roe. The project is currently out for bid and renderings will be coming in the next few months.
