We welcomed the month of September by picking a drink from the new fall menu at Black Wax Café. The Markland location was nearby our morning errands and my backseat riders picked the S’mores Frappe as a Friday treat. I ordered it “virgin” or without coffee since the kiddos were indulging. As the barista handed the Frappe out the drive-thru window, my boys both went “WOAH!” They were mesmerized by the giant toasted Marshmallow on top and couldn’t wait to get a sip. Sharing this tasty drink was difficult because it had all the flavor of sitting by the fire eating s’mores, including the graham crackers. If your family is ready for fall, celebrate with the extra flair that comes with a drink from Black Wax Cafe.

Kokomo Kids Play:
The NEW Playground at
Crossroads Community Church South Campus

A NEW place to play on the south side of Kokomo, Crossroads Community Church fundraised to be able to build a new inclusive community playground and we are so thankful. The playground isn’t always available, as its primary purpose was for use by Crossroads Learning Corner classes during the day. It is open and available during the week from 11 AM- 1 PM and during the evening hours (6 p.m. - dusk) at your own risk. On Saturdays and Sundays, it’s available to use all day. As a mom of young ones, I always appreciate a play area that is fenced-in and well-maintained. This new playground offers that and many other fun features including a picnic area, manufactured shade over the equipment, and the potential for loads of fun with slides, climbing and spinning playground toys.

Learning about Bike Safety at Kokomo Cycling & Fitness

Our family has enjoyed being active outdoors in the evenings lately either, walking, running, or riding bikes. Our oldest really enjoys bike rides and wants to start going on rides outside of our neighborhood so we thought it was important to learn more about bicycle safety and making sure we have the right implements for our family bikes. We stopped into our local Kokomo Cycling and Fitness and were happy to see that they sell bikes and accessories for the whole family. My boys were most excited to see all the tires and tools they had in the shop for the bike repairs they offer. Just for visiting the shop we were given some special reading and coloring material to learn about having the right equipment, riding, alert, and knowing the rules of riding on the road. Stop in to learn more bicycle safety or getting bikes for your family! Or rent a bike to try with the KokoGo Bike Share program before it closes in a few weeks.
