Kokomo Kids Eat

Blondie’s Cookies
Markland Mall- 1160 S. 17th St., Kokomo, IN 46902
New Greentown Store- 100 W. Main St., Greentown, IN 46936
(765) 628-3978

My family was craving something sweet at the end of last week so we went to check out the NEW Blondie’s Cookies Storefront in Greentown. It’s referred to as Blondie’s Cookie Corner as the building sits on the corner of Main and Meridian streets in downtown Greentown. The new storefront also has a party room that is available to rent for local events or large groups. The boys and I each chose a cookie and ate it almost instantly. Through the chocolate and the icing on their faces, I could tell they enjoyed them. Honestly, some of the cookies and cookie cakes at Blondie’s are so pretty I almost don’t want to eat them. The storefront celebrated its grand opening this past weekend and welcomes you to stop by for a sweet treat. Check it out on the Facebook Page.

3D Dinosaur Puzzle at KHCPL South
1755 E. Center Road, Kokomo, IN 46902
(765) 453-4150

DINOVEMBER is here and there are so many fun activities happening at our KHCPL libraries this month! If you haven’t been to the south branch recently, they are celebrating with a new big 3D dinosaur fossil puzzle. When my oldest son saw it, I knew our visit to the library would be a little longer than I had planned. The puzzle is a huge collection of gray foam bone shaped pieces that interlock together. One large dinosaur is pictured as an example, but kids can certainly build many different fossils using this kit. Check out the events tab on the KHCPL website for all of the Dinosaur details.

Kokomo Kids Learn

Bowling at Heritage Lanes
1301 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN 46902
(765) 453-7781

Looking for a fun way to practice some basic math skills? Take your family bowling and bring some paper and pencils along with your shoes and your bowling ball. Obviously Heritage Lanes has a great computer scoring system that adds up all of those pins you strike away, but what if your bowling game was instead a game of estimation or creating a pattern? If you’ve bowled more than once, you’ve probably learned how scoring works in bowling and the special bonus that comes with spares and strikes. Before you get started, have each member in your family pick an achievable score goal and the person who makes it closest to their exact goal (it might take some math to be perfect) wins. Or you can write out a score pattern and try to copy the pattern in your game. We can practice basic math skills in many aspects of daily life, but bowling makes it fun. Once you’ve mastered the math, we can share how you can practice physics at Heritage Lanes too! Be sure to check out their website and Facebook page for information about leagues or open bowling hours.

What would your kids’ picks be? Leave us a comment below or on our social media pages so we can check them out!
