Kokomo Post Kids Eat, Play, Learn: March 14
Hey Kokomo! It’s that time of the week again. Our staff with kids are happy to share a few of the places their kids like to eat, play, and learn in and around Howard County. Check out this week’s picks for yourself!
Kokomo Kids Eat
Candy from Olde Thyme Mercantile LLC
2905 S. Washington St., Kokomo, IN 46902
(765)513-7591
Adults may see it as an antique store, but kids will always recognize Olde Thyme Mercantile LLC as “The Candy Store.” We visited last week and allowed each person in our party to pick out their own candy. They have such a large collection of bulk candy, gummies, and even classic candies you don’t see in other stores anymore. You’ll notice signs around the candy section with information about their “Candy Club,” where you can earn one pound of their pick-n-mix candy for free after purchasing 10 pounds of candy tracked on a punch card (one punch per pound). The store is the perfect place to stop in for a treat or something new. In addition to the antiques and candy, they have items there that make great gifts including homemade craft items and decor.
Kokomo Kids Play
Chapter 2 Books
107 E. Sycamore St., Kokomo, IN 46901
(765) 450-8031 | ch2books@gmail.com
Tucked in the back of Chapter 2 Books is the children’s section, where you can find a wide variety of books for young readers. However, our youngest readers might also enjoy the small train table available to play with in the store. This makes it a special place to play and shop while the weather is still questionable. The shop is open Tuesday-Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Be sure to stop in, shop and play during your next trip downtown!
Kokomo Kids Learn
Visit the Grissom Air Museum
1000 W. Hoosier Blvd., Peru, IN 46970
(765) 689-8011 | www.grissomairmuseum.com
Visit one of only three military bases in our state and see history come to life. Grissom Air Museum is reopening for the 2024 season with a new exhibit featuring the Tuskegee Airmen. Did you know there were five Tuskegee Airmen from Kokomo? The Grissom Air Museum is the perfect place to learn alongside your family. You can even sit in an F-4 Phantom, a Huey helicopter, and explore so many other planes. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays - Sundays. To see what we have coming up to plan your visit, go to their website:www.grissomairmuseum.com or call (765) 689-8011. You can check out the Grissom Air Museum pass experience kit to use for your next visit with your KHCPL library card.
