Kokomo Kids Eat:

The rolls at Texas Roadhouse

5107 Clinton Ave., Kokomo, IN 46902
(765)455-1500

Kokomo is a place for foodies, and I think many locals appreciate having Texas Roadhouse in town. Our family refers to the menu at Texas Roadhouse as, “Cowboy Food” and it is usually requested as this when we ask, “Where would you like to go for dinner?” As a mom and consumer, I appreciate how involved Texas Roadhouse is in our community. Fundraising, sponsorships, and even those free kids meals or free appetizer coupons floating around town make me more willing to dine like a cowgirl. I’m sure we’ll see picks from the kids menu sometime soon, but this past week, all our boys wanted were THE ROLLS. Is it the warm fluffy texture, the shine of their warm golden brown color in the restaurant lights, or that cinnamon butter that makes the rolls at Texas Roadhouse so yummy? Whatever it is, our kids love them and I love that the atmosphere and southern charm of Texas Roadhouse is kid-friendly–YEEHAW!

Kokomo Kids Play:

Disc Golf Course at Crossroads Community Church

South Kokomo Campus

4254 S 00 EW, Kokomo, IN 46902

(765)453-4626

Disc Golf became an official sport in the 1970’s, but its popularity and access to courses has grown in recent years. Our family purchased some basic discs a few years back and love stumbling across new courses. We just play for fun and take as many throws as we need but its a fun way to be outside and the sport is very kid friendly. There are multiple courses in and near Kokomo, but our kids feel like they are going on an adventure in the woods when we take on holes 3-6 at The Preserve at Crossroads. I appreciate the wide open area of the course where I could push a stroller through the grass or let the kiddos run to the next whole. Definitely check out a local course with your kids and do some putting this summer or fall while the weather is mild.

Viewing the 4-H Projects at the Howard County 4-H Fair

Howard County Fairgrounds

790 N Meridian St., Greentown, IN 46936

(765)456-2313

After you and your family fill up on fair food, you can visit three different buildings to see 4-H projects on display. The Livestock Pavillion houses animals owned and raised by 4-H members. You’ll find chickens, goats, llamas, cows, pigs, and more all under the same roof. Throughout the year 4-H members take on the real life experiences of caring for their animals and raising them to market or breed quality. In the Block and Co-Alliance buildings you’ll find decorated cakes and cupcakes, hand sewn clothes, crafts, educational posters, photography, models, farm scenes, small engines, legos, and more. Visiting the 4-H Buildings can be a great place to cool off, but it may also be an inspiration for your child to learn something new. For more information about 4-H in Howard County, check out the Purdue Extension- Howard County Website.
