Kokomo Post Kids: Eat, Play, Learn - Jan. 2
Hey Kokomo! It’s that time of the week again. Our staff with kids are happy to share a few of the places their kids like to eat, play, and learn in and around Howard County. Check out this week’s picks for yourself!

Gordo’s Mexican Style Tacos
311 E. Lincoln Rd. Kokomo, IN 46902 | (765) 453-9073
The holidays brought a busy day of errands and shopping, but tacos from Gordo's provided the perfect snack break. We ordered three Mexican-style chicken tacos, adjusting them for picky eaters by removing pico de gallo. The queso fresco, dubbed “fluffy cheese” by my shopping companions, was a hit and prompted questions about buying some for the next taco night. Despite selective tastes, Gordo's tacos were a success for both the kids and adults.

Kiddie Rides at the Markland Mall
114 S. Seventeenth St., Kokomo, IN 46902 | (765)454-6940
Extra quarters can bring big smiles at the Markland Mall kiddie rides, located near Target. These four rides, perfect for toddlers, only accept quarters, with a nearby change machine for convenience. Though short in duration, the sounds and movements keep kids giggling and eager for more. Which ride is your child’s favorite? We love the helicopter and superman ones.

Setting SMART Goals with your Kids
Families often write New Year’s resolutions, which can include goals or dreams for the upcoming year. Using the SMART framework—Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely—can make goals more achievable. For example, rather than "improve at basketball," specify which skills to develop, set a practice schedule, ensure the goal is realistic, and include a timeline, such as preparing for a summer camp or team tryouts. This is one simple example of real goals or resolutions you can discuss with your family. Don’t limit yourself or your children when setting SMART goals. 2025 could be a year of rising test scores, being more organized, and learning new things.
