The Howard County Snow Scouts Scavenger Hunt
Like the Facebook Page
Our Cub Scouts of Howard County created 12 “Snow Scouts” (one for each point of the scout law) and have placed them in different locations around Howard County for a fun scavenger hunt. With access to a camera phone and a QR code scanner, you and your family can go on the hunt and learn about the 12 points of the scouts’ law. Check out their Facebook Page for the details on how to get your clues and be sure to share photos of your hunt. You can get access to the first clue by completing this Google Form. Be sure to take photos of your family and the snow scouts, but don’t give away their hiding spots! That’s why we blurred out the background in this photo. You can find more information about getting your kids involved in the Howard County Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA on their website.

Check out a Holiday Cake Pan Experience Kit from KHCPL Main
220 N. Union St., Kokomo, IN 46901
765-457-3242
“Oh the weather outside is frightful,” but you can stay warm inside for a family activity with an experience kit from KHCPL. We love baking and cooking as a family and recently discovered that our library has many cake pans that you can borrow with your library card. This is especially helpful when you desire a special cake like for one-time events like a child’s birthday or something seasonal like Christmas.
While cookies and candy are the traditional Christmas goodies, grab a simple cake mix or recipe and check out all the fun cake pans you can choose from at the library. Baking or cooking with your kids is a great way to learn how to read and follow directions. Recipes provide the perfect step-by-step process to making something good to eat. It’s also a great time to practice learning about fractions and measurements. Once you’ve made the cake, you can use the cake decorating experience kit as well. To see all of the available experience kits at KHCPL visit their online catalog and search “experience kit.”
