Kokomo Kids Eat

Fried Caramel Ice Cream from Mi Familia Mexican Restaurant
5125 Clinton Ave., Kokomo, IN 46092 | (765)453-2070

We shared this classic dessert at Mi Familia as an after school snack. I remember having fried ice cream as a kid and thinking it was such a unique and yummy treat. This was their first time trying it, and while they requested I eat the cherry on top, the rest quickly disappeared. They loved the flavor of the ice cream and the crunchy shell. It’s difficult to summon the willpower to not fill up on chips and salsa, but if you haven’t enjoyed a dessert from Mi Familia lately, definitely leave room to share some fried caramel ice cream with your family soon. Mi Familia has a large party room for groups, has their patio seating open, and prepares orders for carryout as well.

Kokomo Kids Play

Riverwalk Concert Series
6 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Kokomo Riverwalk Pavilion

This weekend welcomes back the Riverwalk Concert Series, a fun and family-friendly event down by the Wildcat Creek. The series includes five Saturday nights of fun, food, and music. This Saturday, Aug. 17, will feature Aaron Kamm & the One Drops with special guest Fresh Hops. We’ve enjoyed taking our whole family for a picnic style dinner while dancing and enjoying the music. Our young kids usually don’t make it longer than the opening band, but we’re happy to get out as a family and experience the atmosphere. In addition to the music, the concert series will feature booths of local artists and The Coterie serving up the food. We typically grab food or snacks for the kids and then splurge on burgers for the adults. You can learn more about the Riverwalk Concert series and find the full schedule in this article.

You may have noticed a sweet Golden Doodle wearing his work vest on his visits around town. Finnegan, a certified therapy dog, is now 8 years old and loves his work. He’s visited several local schools, assisted living facilities, hospice patients and participates in community events. He is also a very important helper during funerals at Stout Funeral Homes and Crematory providing comfort to those who are mourning. His owners and handlers, Bev and Marty Stout, are very proud of Finnegan and offer presentations about Finnegan’s journey to becoming a therapy dog. When you meet him, you’ll realize he loves making others happy. For more information about Finnegan and his services, you can contact a local Stout Funeral Home or follow Finnegan on Facebook or Instagram.
