Kokomo’s biggest summer party is set to go out with a bang — literally. The End of Summer Banger, the grand finale of the Kokomo Summer Concert Series, is bringing a powerhouse lineup to Foster Park on Saturday, Sept. 27, headlined by none other than Everclear. And the best part? It’s completely free.
Joining Everclear on stage are two more rock heavyweights: Local H and Sponge, making for a night packed with nostalgia, energy, and pure rock and roll vibes.
A ’90s Rock Revival Under the Stars
Everclear, the alternative rock legends from Portland, Oregon, have been cranking out hits since the early ’90s. Fronted by Art Alexakis, the band dominated the airwaves with anthems like “Santa Monica,” “Father of Mine,” and “Wonderful.” Their signature sound—loud, melodic, and emotionally charged—defined a generation, and they’re still going strong decades later.
Local H, hailing from Zion, Illinois, broke the mold as a duo with Scott Lucas handling both guitar and bass duties, delivering grunge-era hits like Bound for the Floor that still get crowds jumping. Meanwhile, Sponge brings their Detroit-bred alternative rock to the mix, best known for their gold-certified album Rotting Piñata, featuring Plowed and Molly (16 Candles Down the Drain).
“Honestly, the summer series came together really nice and smooth,” said concert organizer Kyle Gibson. “Having booked hundreds of bands to swing through The Coterie in the past 10 years, I have formed solid relationships with excellent booking agencies and management. The bands and management know when they come to Kokomo, they have quality production, great hospitality, and a great crowd to listen and appreciate quality original music.”
Rock, Relax, and Enjoy the Show
The music kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Kokomo Performing Arts Pavilion in Foster Park, located at 721 E. Superior St. While limited bleacher seating is available, concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the ultimate laid-back concert experience. Expect a full evening of great tunes, local food vendors, and that unbeatable end-of-summer atmosphere.
The Kokomo Summer Concert Series, presented by the City of Kokomo, is all about bringing top-tier national and regional acts to the community, creating unforgettable experiences—all for free.
“Being a part of booking for the Kokomo Concert Series has always been something I’ve wanted to do,” said Gibson. “For years, The Coterie has brought local, regional, and even national acts to West Sycamore, giving us a strong sense of what the local music scene loves. The rest of the concert series showcases a variety of genres with strong followings, and my goal is to introduce Kokomo to fresh sounds, fill the park with both locals and out-of-town music lovers, and create an unforgettable experience.”
The full lineup for the remainder of the series will be revealed soon. Stay up-to-date at kokomosummerseries.com or follow along on Facebook for all the latest announcements.
So, mark your calendars, Kokomo. This is one Banger you won’t want to miss.
