Best places in Kokomo to take your furry friend
Hey Kokomo! All of the dog lover’s raise their hands! Let’s face it, going places without your four legged friend just isn’t as fun. If you’re looking for an adventure in Kokomo with your pup, this is the blog for you!
The Dog Park
We know, this is an obvious answer. But did you know, Kokomo has four dog parks to choose from! Read below for which park best fits you and your dogs needs!
Downtown Dog Park- Located at 321 S. Main Street, this dog park was specifically designed for the downtown dog owners. Located by many amazing trails and businesses, this location has it all!
Bon Air Dog Park- Located at 2500 N. Purdum Street, this is Kokomo’s newest dog park! Once an under-utilized horseshoe court, this smaller dog park is perfect for a pup who prefers to play alone.
Mehlig Dog Park- Located next to Carter West Apartments at 1701 W. Carter Street, Mehlig is my personal favorite. This is the city's oldest and first official dog park. This large park offers a lot of room for running and playing. There’s also a separate fenced area for smaller and more timid dogs.
Mohr Dog Park- After the success of Mehlig Dog Park, Mohr Dog Park was constructed at 2302 Saratoga Avenue. This park offers equipment for dog play, and a covered picnic area and benches for owners!
The Kokomo Coffee Company
No, we don’t recommend giving a dog coffee. But they sure do love a cup of whipped cream! The Kokomo Coffee Company is one of many drive-thru drink options in Kokomo that will give you a free cup of whipped cream for pup! My dog, Archie, personally loves it and gives it 10 out of 10 stars!
Kokomo Beach - Pooches in the Pool
Does your dog enjoy playing in the water? Every year on their last day of the season, Kokomo Beach hosts Pooches in the Pool. On August 16th, for just $5, you can bring your dog to Kokomo Beach for 2 hours of swimming! For more information, visit here.
Sun King Kokomo
Handcrafted beer and dogs. Does it get any better than that? Whether your dog prefers to chill on the patio, or wants to hang out inside while you’re playing a board game, Sun King welcomes them with open arms. Next time you want to go get a beer with friends, make sure to take your four legged friends along too.
Walk of Excellence Trail
Last but not least, running east and west directly through Downtown Kokomo, The Walk of Excellence Trail is great for getting some miles in with your dog. The #1 reason we chose this trail was because the path connects to the Cloverleaf Trail at Mehlig Dog Park! For more information on the trail, visit here.
