Capping off Summer at Kokomo Beach
Our Summer Series, a brand new series just launched on The Kokomo Post, shines a light on the coolest activities to enjoy in Kokomo as we wrap up the summer season. Our first episode takes you to a Kokomo summer hot spot, or should we say, cool spot: Kokomo Beach, where we dive into the increasingly popular activity of Water Walking.
In this episode, Bree meets up with Allison Barkman, recreation manager of Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department, to explore the fun and fitness benefits of Water Walking. Kokomo Beach has been offering Water Walking for some time now, but its popularity has surged over the last couple of years. Allison shares how this activity became a staple due to high public demand and provides insights into what makes it so special. So, what is Water Walking? Water Walking at Kokomo Beach is an adults-only (18+) activity, offering a rare opportunity to enjoy the beach without kids. Participants walk at their own pace against the current in the lazy river for 45-minute sessions. It’s an awesome low-impact workout that’s easy on the joints and perfect for all fitness levels. These sessions are available daily before the beach opens and after it closes to the public:
Monday - Saturday: 9-9:45 a.m.
Monday - Friday: 7-7:45 p.m.
Cost:
Season Pass Holders: Free
Non-Season Pass Holders: $2 (cash only)
Water Walking is a fantastic and cool way to squeeze in some exercise and relaxation before the summer ends. But hurry—Kokomo Beach and Water Walking are only available until Aug. 12!
In our video, Bree not only learns about the benefits of Water Walking but also shares some entertaining behind-the-scenes moments as she navigates Kokomo Beach solo.
