BobKat Basketball Returns: A New Season, Fresh Talent, and Championship Aspirations

Saturday, March 1, the Kokomo BobKats will tip off their fifth season. The BobKats have captivated basketball fans in the City of Firsts, satisfying their itch to watch the game they love.

The atmosphere during BobKats games is often described as electric, with the DJ, drumline, and dancers helping keep the energy high throughout.

This year, the BobKats will play home games inside Kokomo High School’s Hayworth Gymnasium. The intimate venue will continue to foster the energy that gives the BobKats one of the best home-court advantages in The Basketball League.

Chandler Levingston Simon returns for his second year as head coach of the Kokomo BobKats. The son of the first BobKats head coach, Cliff Levingston, Levingston Simon’s experience with the team gives him a clear understanding of what it takes to lead the BobKats to success.

As with every season, the BobKats return several familiar faces while welcoming new talent to the 2025 squad. Let’s take a closer look at the coaching staff and players that make up your 2025 Kokomo BobKats.

Head coach: Chandler Levingston Simon

Chandler Levingston Simon is entering his second season as the BobKats' head coach. He has high hopes for this year’s team and plans to bring a championship to Kokomo.

Assistant coach: Josh Hicks

Josh Hicks returns to work alongside Levingston Simon as the BobKats' lone assistant coach. His experience with the team helps new players adjust to the BobKats' expectations.

Position: Point guard

Joe Burton is an athletic guard who can attack defenses from all areas of the court. Fans can expect to see him and Trae Burton sharing some lighthearted moments during timeouts, as the duo brought their friendship to Kokomo for another exciting season.

Rasheen Merlin's size is a major asset for the BobKats in 2025. He and Boyd are expected to share the duties of doing the tough work this season.

Name: Tremont Moore

Position: Power foward

Tremont “Fudge” Moore has been a fan favorite for years. Moore's community involvement is just one of the many ways he makes a positive impact on the people of Kokomo.

Johnny Griffin Jr. has been a mainstay for the BobKats over the years. Beyond his significant role in the team’s success, Griffin Jr. is also an R&B singer and may perform the national anthem before a game this season.

The BobKats open their season Saturday, March 1, against the Lake County Legacy. The game tips off at 7:05 p.m. and will be played at Kokomo High School’s Hayworth Gymnasium.
