Kokomo Post Intern

May 28 marks National Hamburger Day, a celebration of the quintessential American food. This ultimately means as a Kokomo resident, I felt it was my duty to shed light on the town’s favorite burger joints.

Cook McDoogal’s Irish Pub

Cook McDoogal’s is the critic’s choice award winner for the best burger in Kokomo! OK, well maybe not according to any actual “critics,” but rather those who voted on my personal Facebook post. Nevertheless, Cook McDoogal’s was thrilled to receive such positive accolades. When I delivered the news to Cook’s manager, Aubrey Reed, she said, “Well, I feel so honored, considering all our competition. My all-time favorite burger is the Bottle House Hamburger.” This specialty burger is sure to be your favorite as well. It includes Jameson barbecue sauce, bacon, white cheddar cheese with hand-breaded onion rings. Doesn’t that sound amazing?

The Coterie

Don’t despair Coterie’s fans, the craft cocktail lounge’s burgers were also a fan favorite, coming in a close second place. It really amazes me how passionate some people are about their food. One of The Coterie’s most loyal customers shared, “The Coterie is the best. HAND DOWN. I can give you an entire list of people who would attest.” It makes me smile knowing people love food as much as I do. My personal favorite is mushroom and swiss hamburger; it is a 10 out of 10 in my book.

Prodigy

Third place goes to Prodigy Burger. Prodigy Burger is just overall a great regional chain restaurant that offers customers a wide selection of different foods. However, burgers are their claim to fame. Prodigy offers 16 different mouth-watering burgers on its menu and is known for one of its best burgers, the GOAT. Critics rave about this burger.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Fourth place goes to Five Guys. This is not surprising as Five Guys just always hits the spot — not to mention they sell some of the best fresh-cut cajun fries in town. You can’t get a Five Guys burger without their fries... you just can’t!

Cone Palace

Cone Palace rounded out our poll for fifth best burger in town. This locally-owned establishment is more than a burger and ice cream spot; it’s a community treasure. The long line of cars at the drive-thru speaks volumes on how tasty their food and ice cream treats truly are.
