Local Christmas Events for Kids

The holiday season is here, making it the perfect time for family fun. Plenty of special events are coming up, and Santa and Mrs. Claus plan to visit Kokomo often to hear what all the good boys and girls want for Christmas. Here’s your guide to all the local Christmas events for kids and families.

Nov. 27 though Dec. 24, Visit Santa at the Markland Mall

A special visitor from the North Pole will be in town from Wednesday. Nov. 27 through Tuesday, Dec. 24, but his arrival will be celebrated with festive flair on Saturday. Beginning at 10:30 a.m. there will be a parade in the main entrance with Santa escorted by his reindeer. Following the celebration, Santa will be available for visits and photos from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (with a short cookies and milk break from 3 to 4 p.m.) For his full schedule and other special events, visit the Markland Mall website.


Nov. 29 through Jan. 12, The Frozen Sandlot at Kokomo Municipal Stadium

As the temperatures drop and fall turns to winter we can get excited to practice some of our favorite holiday traditions like going Ice Skating. Public skating is available from 5 to 9 p.m. on weekdays, 12  to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 1 to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Now in its seventh year, the Frozen Sandlot is made possible by the partnership between Bridges Outreach and the City of Kokomo. Thanks to the City of Kokomo, all of the proceeds will benefit Bridges Outreach and youth in our community. Nov. 29 through Dec. 24, City of Lights Christmas Light Display at Highland Park
900 W. Defenbaugh St., Kokomo, IN 46902 | 6 to 10 p.m.

The Kokomo Parks & Recreation Department decorates Highland Park for the Holidays with the annual free light display open to the public to walk or drive through each night from 6 to 10 p.m.


Dec. 5 through 25, Greentown Lions Christmas Lights at the Howard County 4-H Fairgrounds
610 E. Payton St., Greentown, IN 46936 6 to 9 p.m.

The Greentown Lions Club invites everyone to the Howard County Fairgrounds to enjoy a growing collection of Christmas lights. Donations are accepted at the entrance as visitors drive through the display. Guests can also park near the round barn to enjoy cookies, hot chocolate, and a chance to meet special visitors from the North Pole. The lights will be available every Thursday through Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. through Dec. 25.


Nov. 29 through Jan. 5, Lights in the Airpark at Grissom Air Museum
1000 W. Hoosier Blvd, Peru, IN 46970 | 4:30 to 9 p.m.

Visit the Grissom Air Museum for a special holiday light show. The indoor museum will be open, and visitors can enjoy the outdoor light display in the airpark. Tickets are $9 for adults and $8 for children ages 6-11. Children 5 and under are free.Kids can also take home a special craft, making this a fun and unique experience for the whole family. Nov. 30 through Dec. 22, City of Kokomo’s Wintertyme Village at Kokomo Municipal Stadium
400 S. Union St, Kokomo, IN 46901 | 2 to 7 p.m.

Families are invited to the Kokomo Wintertyme Village at Kokomo Municipal Stadium for a festive Christmas event featuring vendors, lights, kids activities, a petting zoo, ice skating and more. The Village will be open Saturdays and Sundays between Thanksgiving and Christmas from 2 to 7 p.m. Visitors can enjoy creating holiday-themed crafts and hands-on learning in this fun holiday setting. The staff at Brady Insurance Group invites you to create special Christmas memories with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Guests will have the opportunity to meet them and take free photos, which will be shared via email. Meet Buck and Santa Claus at Indiana Heartland Federal Credit Union. This event is free and open to the public where all children under 10 will receive a toy, hot chocolate, cookie, goody bag, and a photo with Santa.


Dec. 13, Holiday Extravaganza at Silver Birch of Kokomo

Dec. 13, Christmas at Kirkendall with the Kokomo Parks & Recreation Department

This Friday night promises to be festive with the Kokomo Parks & Recreation Department at its new event, Christmas at Kirkendall. Bring the whole family to the Kirkendall Nature Center for holiday crafts, cookie decorating, a visit with a real reindeer, and, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus. Dec. 13, LIVE Drive Thru Nativity at Rock Prairie Church

Rock Prairie Church will showcase a drive through nativity every night in Dec. from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. However, on Friday, Dec. 13 the nativity will be a live event with real camels, carolers, hot chocolate, and more.


Dec. 14 & 21, Breakfast with Reindeer

Families will love enjoying breakfast and making a special craft together. Kids ages 2 to 11 will get to take photos with Wrangler “the reindeer” and also ride a “reindeer” during this special holiday event. You can register for the date of your choice and complete a waiver for Breakfast with Reindeer online.


Dec. 14, Breakfast with Santa and Western Panther Theatre

Support the Western High School Theatre Department and attend Breakfast with Santa on Saturday in the Panther Cafe. Tickets can be purchased online and includes endless pancakes, a holiday craft, and a special visit with Santa.


Dec. 14, Breakfast and Photos with Santa at Kokomo Church of the Brethren

Enjoy free pancakes and the chance to visit and take photos with Santa this Saturday. Children of all ages are welcome. The Kokomo Church of the Brethren is located just off of Lincoln road behind Kroger in the Maplecrest Plaza.


Dec. 14, Breakfast with Santa at the Sharpsville Fire Department

Dec. 14, Gingerbread House Decorating Class with Rainbow Narwhal Cookie Company

Dec. 14, Holiday Movie Night at Kokomo Municipal Stadium

Oh what fun it is to watch a holiday movie on the big screen at Municipal Stadium! The city will be showing “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (2000) on the big screen in centerfield during the Kokomo Wintertyme Village events. Dec. 14, Free Holiday Movie at the Roxy 5 Theater

The Roxy 5 Theater is showing “The Polar Express” as a part of the free family Christmas movie series. Admission is free and sponsored by the PHS Class of 1965 and Story Church. Doors open at 9:20 a.m. and seating is first come first serve.


Dec. 15, Elite Event Center: Breakfast Meet and Greet

The YMCA staff invite swimmers of all ages to dive into a pool party with Santa on Sunday. The party will be in the program pool with festive music, goodie bags, and of course Santa. Dec. 17, 2024 Peru Jingle Bell Handout

Spread Christmas cheer in Peru by getting your jingle bells to collectively ring at 6:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve. These jingle bells are handed out for free at the Santa house by the courthouse. Donations are accepted and benefit the fund to purchase and maintain decorations for downtown Peru next year.

All ages are welcome to the Kokomo Country Palace for a Family Christmas Karaoke night. The bar and grill will be open and the cover charge is five dollars. The fun will continue with an ugly sweater contest and raffles.
